PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa wrestling team dropped their second dual in as many days on Friday evening, falling to No. 7 CSU-Pueblo 25-18 at Massari Arena in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
After falling in the first two bouts, Colorado Mesa got a big win at 141 pounds as
Eduardo Penha defeated PT Garcia 3-1. Penha, ranked No. 10 this week in the NWCA national rankings, worked a first period takedown and had an escape later in the bout.
At 149 pounds,
Daniel Van Hoose earned a narrow win over Oscar Diaz 4-3 to make the dual 9-6. Van Hoose worked a takedown and a pair of escapes for the win.
CSU-Pueblo picked up two more wins before the Mavericks had two wins of their own.
The Mavericks got back-to-back pins from
Seth Latham at 174 pounds and
Nolan Krone at 184 pounds. Latham's pin came at 59 seconds while Krone's came at the 4:46 mark of the match.
The Mavericks will host Western Colorado in the annual Battle in Brownson presented by Bank of Colorado on Wednesday at 6pm in Brownson Arena.
