GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa wrestling team fell to the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers 23-11 on Wednesday evening in Volk Gymnasium in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual.
After falling behind after the first bout, Colorado Mesa rattled off a pair of wins to knot the dual at 6-6.
Bracken Lovell squeaked by with a 4-3 decision victory over Jake Woods at 133 pounds followed by an
Eduardo Penha victory at 141 pounds. Penha, ranked No. 10 in this week's NWCA national rankings, scored a 5-1 decision win over Lukas Erickson.
Mines rattled off two more wins before
Jason Buhr ended the streak at 165 pounds. Buhr defeated Keenan Willits 11-7, avenging a loss last season that injured Buhr for a majority of the season.
The Orediggers once again went on a mini two-match win streak before
TJ Lodermeier earned a 7-2 decision victory over Jacob Feldman at 197 pounds. Both teams were docked team points in the match that had a minor scuffle take place after.
Mines claimed a technical fall win in the 285 pound bout.
Colorado Mesa will be on the road on Thursday for their final road dual of the season. They will take on nationally ranked CSU-Pueblo at 6pm.
