Mavs Meet No. 15 Lynn in Salt Lake City on Saturday

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa Mavericks men's lacrosse team will head to Salt Lake City for a neutral site game against No. 15 Lynn University. This game is hosted by Westminster College on Dumke Field and will take place Saturday at 2 pm. The Mavericks are 2-2 this far into the season after recently splitting a two game road trip in California. The Mavericks defeated Notre Dame De Namur University (30-5) and fell to Whittier College (10-8) back on Feb 22 and 23, respectively.

Player of the Week Honors X2

Senior Cole Smith and Freshmen Jason Kauo swept the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Weeks honors this week which was announced by conference officials on Feb 25.

Smith earned Defensive Player of the Week after picking up four ground balls and causing three turnovers in the Mavs win over NDNU.

In his freshmen debut against NDNU Kauo recorded four goals and two assists to earn Offensive Player of the Week.

This was the Mavericks first player of the week awards this season.

Scouting Lynn

Lynn University ranks No. 15 in the USILA rankings and is the Mavericks first ranked opponent of the 2019 season. The Fighting Knights are traveling from Baco Raton, Fla. For a two-game stint in Utah. They will first play Colorado Mesa on Saturday March 2 before facing Westminster on March 5.

Lynn University is 1-0 on the season after defeating No. 7 New York Institute of Technology 19-5 on Feb 17. Lynn's freshmen Caleb Wells recorded a game high five goals while sophomore Xander Cosenza tied him with five goals.

Next Up

The Mavericks will host Rollins on March 13 for the home opener that will take place at 7pm on Walker Field.
