Box Score BELMONT, Calif. – The Colorado Mesa Mavericks fell to 2-2 on the season after losing to Whittier College 10-8 Saturday afternoon to conclude their two game California trip.
The Mavericks got out to a 2-1 lead which was started by Brandon Wilson who registered the opening goal. The Poets answered back with four straight goals to take a 6-2 advantage. The Mavs scored just before half to make it 6-3 at the break.
Each team recorded one more goal before the Mavericks scored four straight to take an 8-7 lead. The Poets finished the game recording three straight goals. Their final goal to reach a 10-8 final score happened in the last 24 seconds as the Mavericks were forced to pull the goalie in an attempt to score with one extra man.

The Mavericks will meet Lynn University from Boca Raton, Florida at a neutral site in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 2. This game is expected to take place at 2pm. Following this game the Mavericks will host Rollins on Walker Field for their home opener on March 13 at 7 pm.
