GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Colorado Mesa Maverick women's soccer team has just one match this weekend set for Sunday at 1 pm against the Western Mountaineers. This game originally scheduled to be played in Gunnison, Colo. has been moved to Walker Field due to construction delays at Western's soccer field.
Earlier this season on September 8th the Mavericks defeated the Mountaineers 2-1. Since then the Mountaineer have yet to win a game and have a 0-9-1 overall record and a 0-5-1 conference record. The Mavericks are currently 5-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in conference after recently defeating Black Hills State 2-0 last Sunday at Theisz Field. This was the Mavericks second shutout of the season.
Reigning RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week, Kamrie Gunderson was a part of both of those shutouts and has started every game in net this season for the Mavericks. She currently has a 1.04 goals against average and a 78.8 saves percentage. In the Mavericks most recent weekend of games, she recorded a 0.45 goals against average and six saves to earn the first RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week award of her career.
Ryanne Parker who recorded two assist over last weekend and now has totaled seven points this season leads the Maverick offense. She leads the team with three assist and has two goals thus far. Alexis Allard and Lexi Newton recorded their second goals of the season against BHSU. The Mavericks now have six players with multiple goals and two players with one. Kristen Capan recorded the first goal of her career against Regis University. This goal came in just her second appearance of this season.
Defensively, Jocelyn Ceccarelli, Sydney Prestia, and Devyn Parsons have been consistent starters all season and limited opponents to 47.4 shots on goal percentage and 1.10 goals per game.
Scouting the Mountaineers
The Mountaineers are on a two game losing streak after tying MSU Denver 1-1 on September 29th. Prior to that the Mountaineers lost seven matches.
In their last game against Regis they were shutout 7-0. Missa Webb leads the team with two goals and has taken a team high 12 shots this season. In the net, Kaeyla Noble has started eight of the Mountaineers ten games and recorded a 3.82 goals against average and 59 saves.
The Mavericks have defeated Western in the past four consecutive meetings dating back to 2016. Â

The Mavericks will host New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo on October 18th and 20th . The match against New Mexico Highlands will kick off at 7 pm on Friday night and the game against CSU-Pueblo will begin at 1:30 pm on Sunday. Both games will be held at Walker Stadium.
