Mavs Set to Travel for Two Tough Road Games

This weekend the Mavericks will travel to the Front Range for matches against MSU-Denver and University of Colorado Colorado Springs.This will be the first RMAC road test for the Mavericks. This weekend is also one of the most challenging weekends on the Mavericks 2018 schedule. First the Mavs will take on nationally ranked Metro State. The Mavericks are set to play against the No. 11 Roadrunners Friday night at 7 p.m. in Denver, Colo. Following this match the Mavs will travel south on I-25 to Colorado Springs for a match against UCCS. This game is set to take place at Mountain Lion Stadium at 1 p.m.

The Mavs have now faced a top 25 opponent for two weeks in a row. Last weekend the Mavericks fell to No. 7 Colorado School of Mines. The Mavericks will get another chance to upset a top 25 opponent this weekend as they take on No. 11 MSU-Denver.  

As for the Mavericks Zoe Peterson is the only Mav to record a goal this RMAC season. Midfielder Ryanne Parker has contributed an assist to this RMAC season. The combination of these three points were recorded in the Mavericks win against Colorado Christian University earlier this season.

Alexis Allard has contributed six points to the Mavericks season this far recording two goals and two assists. She will look this weekend to record her first points of the 2018 RMAC season.

About MSU-Denver

The Roadrunners enter Fridays match with a 4-1-1 record and a 2-0 record in the RMAC. They have outscored their opponents 17-4 and are currently recording 2.83 goals per game. Regina Banks has netted nine goals in six games this season and is leading the NCAA Division II. She is shooting an on goal percentage of 0.708.

About UCCS

The Mountain Lions of Colorado Springs enter this weekend with a 4-1-1 overall record and 2-0 RMAC record. Before the match on Sunday with the Mavs, UCCS will battle with Western State on Friday night. The Mountain Lions are currently on a three game winning streak. UCCS is lead by Tori Maydew who has five goals on the season and a shots on goal percentage of .615.

The last time the Mavs and the Mountain Lions met was in the 2017 RMAC Tournament. The Mavs lost 0-4. UCCS went on to win that tournament.

Next Home Matches

The Mavericks will return to Walker Field Sept 28 against Regis University and Sept 30 against Black Hills State.
