GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team will look to bookend their regular season campaign against the Westminster Griffins.
They will face the Griffins at the conclusion of the men's game, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at Community Hospital Unity Field.
The game will be livestreamed on the RMAC Network and will have live stats available.
Last Time Out
The Mav went on their final road trip of the regular season as they played UCCS and Regis on the road.
They lost 4-1 at the hands of the Mountain Lions and then earned a 1-1 tie against Regis.
Coral Turner scored her first goal as a Mav against UCCS while Ellie Duncan scored her seventh.
Olivia Barrett added two assists while Angelina Kazinec got her first assist of the year as well.
Keely Wieczorek totaled seven saves across both games.
RMAC Tournament Chase
While six of the eight spots have been clinched already, there will still be plenty to play for as the regular season draws to a close.
Regis clinched their first regular season title since 2017 this past weekend and will be hosting throughout the tournament.
UCCS wrapped up their regular season on Sunday and will finish as the two seeds. Colorado School of Mines, CMU, Black Hills State will all battle for the remaining seeds.
Westminster, Western Colorado and Colorado Christian are all jockeying for the last two spots which right now are being held by the Griffins and Mountaineers.
Seeding Implications
While Mesa's spot in the tournament is already clinched, their seed is still on the table as a number of possibilities could happen.
If CMU beats Westminster, they will get the three seeds regardless of the other outcomes.
If the two teams tie, CMU will have to look at the results of the CSM and CSU Pueblo game. If CSM ties or loses, they will still get the third seed and if CSM wins, CMU will get the fourth seed.
The only way the Mavs earn the fifth seed is if they lose, CSM ties or wins and Black Hills State beats Regis.
Westminster gets in the tournament as a seventh seed if they beat CMU. They could also get in with a tie and CCU tie or loss.
If Westminster loses, they need both Colorado Christian and Western Colorado to lose to get the seventh seed. If one of those teams wins and the other does not, they will get the eighth seed.
RMAC Honors
The Mavs have been given RMAC Player of the Week four times so far, claiming all three categories at least once this season.
Barrett won back-to-back Defensive Player of the Week awards while Wieczorek won her ninth career Goalkeeper of the Week honors, the most ever by a Mavs player.
Duncan also won Offense Player of the Week, the first Mav to do so since Sauvelyne Randel back in 2024.
NPI Rankings
The Mavs are now ranked seventh in the newest NPI regional rankings, dropping one spot from where they originally placed.
Dallas Baptist, Texas Women's and Midwestern State still lead the region with Oklahoma Christian and five other RMAC teams joining them.
Regis (#4), UCCS (#5), Colorado School of Mines (#6), Fort Lewis (#9) and Black Hills State (#10) join CMU in the rankings
Offensive Numbers
The Mavs have outscored their opponents 26-12, scoring 1.63 goals per game.
Duncan leads the team in the goal column with seven while Parker Mairs dished out six assists as well.
Olivia Bariao-Arce, Jenelle Arenibas, Brooklyn Baird and Katelyn Romano have all added to goal total as well.
Defense
While goals have helped the Mavs win, the defense for the Mavs has been sturdy for most of the season.
Only conceding more than once three times this season, every single win the Mavs have had this season has been a shutout.
Barrett, Sarah Dunn, Kylie Hoffman and Ella Speerschneider have all made contributions to the defense and will look to improve as the Mavs enter the postseason.
About Westminster
The Griffins own an overall record of 6-5-3 and are battling for the last spot in the RMAC Tournament. They are coming off a 3-0 loss at the hands of UCCS but will look to pull off an upset against CMU.
Adrianna Pulver leads the team in goals with four while Natalie Cardin, Skye Kennedy and Kayla Sato all have two assists.
Marin Mackenize has started most of their games in goal, making 31 saves on 112 shots faced.
Take a Look Ahead
The Mavs will play their first RMAC tournament game on Sunday, Nov. 1. The opponent and location will be determined after all matches are concluded on Wednesday.
