PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's tennis team closed out the Pueblo Duals with a split of two matches. The Mavericks earned a pair of wins over South Central region opponents with a 7-0 win over Texas – Permian Basin and a 4-3 come from behind win over Newman.
The Mavericks earned the 7-0 sweep of Texas – Permian Basin and only dropped on set in the 10 contested matches.
Maike Waldburger defeated Jessica Madamba 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 for the three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Emily Beckley didn't drop a game at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Stephanie Prats.
In the final bout, the Mavericks fell behind after dropping all three doubles matches but rebounded with a 4-3 win over the Newman Jets.
Kristen Kirby earned the straight set win over Liza Gerasimova at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-0) while Beckley and
Rebecca Osterberg earned straight set wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to knot the dual at 3-3.
Taylor Hershey picked up the dual clinching win at No. 6 singles with a come from behind 5-7, 6-1, 7-5 over Emily Wise.
Colorado Mesa will compete at the ITA Regional Championships in Wichita Falls, Texas next weekend.
