GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Colorado Mesa University head track and field coach Brad Gamble and head cross country coach Matt Canterbury have announced their 2018-19 recruiting class, which includes 65 (26 women and 39 men) student-athletes from 14 different states and one Canadian province (Alberta).

"I am beyond excited to welcome such a large and talented group of student-athletes to Colorado Mesa University. The goal was to go out and bring in talented individuals who love track and field, and we did just that.  Each newcomer will bring a special element to the team, and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together," Gamble said.

"We lost one senior to graduation on both the men's and women's side, so our goal was to add depth to each team. I think we accomplished that goal and I'm extremely excited to start the season.  We have some talented freshmen who will complement our returners and who will contribute right away," Canterbury said about his distance crew.

The Maverick cross country team will begin their season on Sept. 8 at the Joe I. Vigil Open in Alamosa while the track and field team will begin competition in December.
