Mavericks and Skyhawks Square Off for Second Time

Colorado Mesa University plays one game this week following splitting their two games last weekend. The Mavericks will be traveling down to Durango, Colo. to take on Fort Lewis College (FLC) on Sunday. This will be the second meeting this season that the Mavericks and the Skyhawks have squared off. CMU won the first go around 17-16 in the opening game of the season at home.

It will be the Maverick's seventh conference game of the season. After falling to No. 12 Regis University (RU) last weekend, the Mavericks fell to 4-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). However, despite the loss they still sit in third place in the conference with a .778 winning percentage (7-2).

The Mavericks will travel with a 4-1 record in games played away from Walker Field but are on a one game losing streak after a loss to No. 3 Lindenwood on their last road trip. CMU will be closing out the regular season with three of their final five games coming on the road.

As a team they are still led by Lindsi Peters and Olivia Hayden, who have combined for 46 goals and 23 assists on the year. Lula Mitchell has been their goalie all season long, and she will enter Durango with a 7-2 record with a .444 save percentage on the season.

Meanwhile, the Skyhawks are currently 3-5 on the year and have played only one game at home thus far. They are coming off a 21-5 loss to RU this last weekend and will have one game against Adams State University prior to the Mavericks on Sunday.

Kelli Warmouth is their leading offensive points getter on the season. She has 28 thanks to 22 goals and six assists to lead her team in both categories. As for their goalies, they have alternated time between Daris Wienk and Ally Guerrero throughout the season.

In the first matchup between these two teams, the Mavericks scored eight in the second half to pull off a come from behind win. Peters and Hayden combined for 12 goals on 15 shots on the afternoon.
