Men's Lax Starts Six Conference Game Streak with Thunderwolves and Grizzlies

Following their historic win against Johnson & Wales University, the Mavericks are looking to extend their two-game win streak with two games this weekend against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) opponents. Colorado Mesa University will be squaring off with CSU-Pueblo (CSUP) on Friday, followed by Adams State University (ASU) on Sunday. Both games will be taking place on the road for the Mavericks, where CMU is currently 3-2 on the season.

CMU has yet to lose a conference game thus far in the season, currently sitting at 2-0 on the year. The Mavericks have six games remaining on their schedule, with all six coming against conference opponents. This weekend will be the first matchup between CMU and CSUP and ASU, and the Mavericks will play both teams a second time at the end of April at home.

Following the team's 33 goal outburst last weekend, the Mavericks have increased their goals scored per game average to 14.6. That is good for second in the conference behind Rockhurst University (RU).

CMU is currently led by Reece Callies, Jack Griffin and Calen Ketcham. The three have combined for 104 points thanks to 68 goals and 36 assists. Remi Reeves has been the Mavericks main goalie for the majority of the season, being named the started in eight of the team's 11 games. He has tallied a 5-1 record and a .607 save percentage.

As for CSUP, they are coming into the week with a 3-4 overall record and are currently in the midst of a two-game losing streak. Their last loss came at the hands of RU where they fell 18-10. They are currently 2-2 when playing on their home field and are 1-2 in RMAC games.

Blake Foerster is their go to offensive threat. He has a team high 23 goals to go along with 12 assists.

The Mavericks won both games against the Thunderwolves last season by a combined score of 40-17.

ASU is in a similar situation as the Thunderwolves. They enter the week with a 3-5 overall record and are currently in a three-game losing skid. The Grizzlies have also yet to win a conference game, as they sit at 0-3 on the year.

Kale Wilson is their offensive leader with 15 points on the season. He has a team high 13 goals to go with two assists.

Last season, the Mavericks and Grizzlies met three times and CMU won all three matchups. The Grizzlies were held to four or fewer goals in all three meetings, while the Mavericks scored at least 10 in every game.

Friday's game is set for a 7 p.m. start time while Sunday's is set for 12 p.m.
