DENVER – The Colorado Mesa men's tennis team advanced to the RMAC Championship match after a 5-1 win over CSU-Pueblo in the semifinals of the RMAC Championship tournament. The Mavericks, however, fell to the host MSU Denver Roadrunners in the championship 5-0, ending their season.
In the final, the Mavericks made it close in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, falling 8-6 and 9-7 respectively.
Max Lindqvist and
Mitchell Steadman fell 9-7 at No. 3 doubles to Calum Hayes and Martinez-Morilla.
Colorado Mesa dropped matches at No. 2 singles and No. 6 singles with all other matches going unfinished as the Roadrunners had clinched the match.
In the semifinal, the Mavericks took all three doubles matches with
Lucas Martin and
Alain De La Bastide defeating James Ryan and Steven Alcala 9-7 (10-8) in the tiebreaker to complete the sweep.
Martin and De La Bastide also clinched the match with their singles match wins. Martin defeated James Ryan 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 single while De La Bastide earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over David Mould at No. 4 singles.
