It is senior weekend for the Mavericks as they look to extend their five-game win streak with two games. Colorado Mesa University will play host to Adams State University (ASU) on Friday followed by senior day against CSU-Pueblo (CSUP) on Sunday. With one win the Mavericks would clinch a share of the conference regular season title, while with two wins they would clinch it outright.
Â
The Mavericks are looking to remain perfect in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) for the first time in program history. CMU was perfect in conference play back in 2015 when they were a part of the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA).
Â
If the Mavericks are able to clinch the RMAC regular season title, that would be the third straight season they have finished at the top of the standings.
Â
CMU faced off against CSUP and ASU back in the first week of April, and the Mavericks won both of those games by a combined score of 36-11. While taking on the Thunderwolves down in Pueblo, the Mavericks went on a 13-0 run to cement their 20-6 victory. As for the Grizzlies, CMU used a 9-0 run to help win that one 16-5.
Â
Along with that, the Mavericks are trying to go perfect at home for the regular season. They are currently 4-0 with only these two games remaining before the RMAC tournament.
Â
It is also senior night on Sunday afternoon. The Mavericks will be honoring their eight seniors prior to the start of the game against CSUP.
Scott Foster,
Jayden Campbell,
Connor Larrick,
Austin Cromwell,
Calen Ketcham,
Trey Thurmond,
Reece Callies and
Ky Reinhardt will all be honored.
Â
Game time for Friday is set for 7 p.m. while Sunday's is set for 1 p.m. at Walker Field.
