Colorado Mesa University plays one of their final two conference regular season games this weekend. It is the second meeting between the Mavericks and Westminster College (WC) this season.
Â
In the last meeting between the two teams, the Mavericks escaped on the road with a 15-14 win over the Griffins.
Amanda Geary scored the game winning goal on an assist from
Olivia Hayden with 1:52 remaining in regulation. While that game didn't count towards the team's conference records, this second matchup will.
Â
CMU comes into the week with an 8-2 overall record and a 5-2 conference record. The Mavericks were led by senior
Jessica Cook in their win last weekend over Fort Lewis. Cook finished the game with seven points (five goals and two assists), which moved her over 200 career points in her CMU career.
Â
As for WC, they currently sit at 5-4 overall on the year and are 4-2 in the conference. They won their last game against UCCS 16-13 back on March 31. Madison Ingman is their leader with 45 points on the season. She has accumulated a team high 35 goals to go with 10 assists.
Â
The Mavericks are a perfect 7-0 in games against the Griffins dating back to 2015. The Mavericks will look to keep that streak alive on Saturday when these teams meet at Walker Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
