Mavericks and Hawks Meet in a Battle of Top 20

Colorado Mesa University's men's lacrosse team is currently riding a four-game win streak, and a 15-game conference win streak dating back to last season. This win streak has helped move the Mavericks up to 14th in the nation. Next up the Mavericks will be traveling to Kansas City, Mo. to take on No. 17 Rockhurst University (RU) on Saturday.

A big reason behind the Maverick's current win streak has been their dominant offensive play. Over the last four games, CMU is averaging 20.5 goals per contest. In comparison, their opponents are only averaging 5.75. That gives the Mavericks a 14.75 goal differential in their last four victories.

This will be the second meeting between the Mavericks and the Hawks this season. The two teams last met on March 6 at Walker Field, where the Mavericks came away with the 13-8 victory. Reece Callies led the Mavericks with a five-point outing thanks to four goals and an assist on the afternoon.

That win is the lone loss of the season for the Hawks. They come into the weekend with a 12-1 overall record and are currently riding a seven-game win streak. RU has not lost a game at home all season long.

As a team, the Hawks have only been held under 12 goals once this season, which was to CMU. Sam Lindahl is the leading offensive threat on this team. He has 49 points thanks to 31 goals and 18 assists.

The last time the Mavericks traveled to Bourke Field, CMU lost a nail bitter 11-10. The loss came despite opening up the game with a 5-0 lead after the first quarter.

Game time is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday.
