After having an off week last week, Colorado Mesa University will be playing three road games this week against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents. Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) will be their first opponent on Monday, followed by Rockhurst University (RU) on Wednesday. The Mavericks will end the week with their toughest challenge of the season to date in No. 3 Lindenwood University (LU) on Friday.
Â
CMU is currently 3-0 on the year and are just on the outside looking in on being inside the top 25. So far, the Mavericks have yet to score under 15 goals in a game with a high of 19 against Adams State University (ASU). The team is currently 2-0 on the road as well entering their road trip to Oklahoma and Missouri.
Â
As a team the Mavericks have had nearly twice as many opportunities to score as their opponents. They have accumulated 106 total shot attempts to only 68 from the opposing teams.
Jessica Cook currently leads the team in that category with 17 shots on the year.
Â
Lindsi Peters along with Cook are CMU's top two goal scorers so far with 10 and eight respectively. Peters also has three assists to her name to help her lead the team in total points 13 points.
Amanda Geary is not too far behind with 11 points on the year thanks to four goals and seven assists.
Â
OBU is entering the week with a 2-3 record, including losing their last two games by a combined score of 40-9. They are led by Lauren McCormack who has 20 points on the season (nine goals and 11 assists) which is double the next closest teammate. Monday's game will be the Mavericks' first RMAC game although each of their first three games were non-conference match-ups with fellow RMAC members.
Â
RU comes into the week riding a three-game win streak, to help them rise to a 6-2 record. Over their three-game streak with victories over RMAC foes in each, the Hawks have not scored fewer than 11 goals. Hannah Miller is the main reason for the good start for RU. She has 30 points on the year thanks to 18 goals and 12 assists.
Â
The Lions are coming into the week with a 6-0 record, including an 11-4 win over No. 24 University of Indianapolis. In the national rankings, LU received 584 points and four first place votes to get them to their number three ranking. They take on CSU-Pueblo and ASU prior to their matchup with CMU on Friday.
Â
One reason this team is ranked inside the top five is because of their shear dominance over their first six opponents. They have outscored their opponents by 61 goals in their six games (92-31). Sophie Buelow is leading the team with 25 points thanks to 14 goals and 11 assists.
Â
Following this three-game road trip the Mavericks will return home for two games on March 24 and March 30.
