Mavericks Fall to Holy Names on Sunday

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Colorado Mesa men's tennis team dropped its final match of the Firestorm Classic to the Holy Names Hawks on Sunday at the Paseo Racquet Club.
 
The Mavericks picked up a pair of wins in doubles. Nick Farmen and Will Agritelley earned an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles while Mitch Steadman and Lennon Braaten won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
 
Colorado Mesa was swept in singles with Steadman falling in three sets at No. 5 singles to Valentin Baranyi.
 
LATE SATURDAY RECAP
 
In the first match on Saturday, Colorado Mesa fell 8-1 to host Arizona Christian.
 
Alain De La Bastide and Lucas Martin came away with the lone Maverick win, an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles over the team of Balderama and Galeffi.
 
The Mavericks dropped all six singles matches in straight sets.
 
In the evening match, the Mavericks fell 6-3 to former Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival Western New Mexico.
 
Lennon Braaten and Mitch Steadman earned the lone doubles victory for Colorado Mesa, winning 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
 
Steadman went on to win his singles match as well with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles over Jose Mario Neto.
 
Daniel Ness recorded the only other singles victory for Colorado Mesa, a 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4 three set win at No. 4 singles over Zach Grabovic.
 
Colorado Mesa will take on RMAC foe Colorado Christian on Saturday at 11am at the Elliott Tennis Center.
