Men's lacrosse has two games on tap for this weekend, with both taking place out east in North Carolina. After defeating Notre Dame De Namur 22-2 in the season opener, the No. 14 Mavericks will now face off against Mars Hill University (MHU) and No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne University (LRU) in a matchup of top 15 teams in the country.
Â
MHU is looking for their first win of the season after beginning the season 0-3. Two of those losses have also come on their home field. As a team they have been outscored 38-19 in those three contests and have a 25.6 shooting percentage.
Â
This will be the first matchup between these two teams in program history. The game is set for 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Â
The second game of the week features arguably CMU's toughest test of the season, in just their third game. LRU has already started their season 4-0, including a 17-13 win over the number one team in the nation Limestone.
Â
The Bears have yet to be held under 11 goals so far this season and are 3-0 in games played in Hickory, N.C. Three LRU players already have 11 goals on the season, led by Myles Moffat who has 11 goals and six assists. Ryan Crompton has been in goal for all four games and has tallied 43 saves over those four contests.
Â
CMU is looking to win the program's first ever game against a top five team in the nation and get only their second win against a team in the top 10 (their only win was in 2015 when they defeated No. 8 University of Tampa on the road 14-6).
Â
Much like MHU, this will be the first matchup against LRU in program history. The game is set for Saturday at 12 p.m. in Hickory, N.C.
