Mavs Open New Year on the Road

NEW YEAR: Colorado Mesa is 9-1 in the weekend series following the New Year under head coach Taylor Wagner. The lone loss came a year ago in a loss to Regis 76-71 in Brownson Arena.

THREE BALL: Junior guard Jaylyn Duran has been the Mavericks top scorer for most of the season. She has made 44 three-pointers at a clip of 44.4 percent. The 44 made three-pointer ranks her second among all players in Division II.

HITTING THE BOARDS: Colorado Mesa is 9-0 this season when they outrebound their opponents. They rank fourth in the RMAC, averaging 39.2 rebounds per game. Saturday's opponent, Regis, is just ahead of them at 39.9 rebounds per game.

CHARITY STRIPE: The Mavericks' opponents have reached the free-throw line exactly 100 more times than Colorado Mesa. MSU Denver shot 15 more free throws in last Saturday's win against the Mavericks.

HISTORY WITH CHADRON STATE: Chadron State is another team that head coach Taylor Wagner has never lost to, going 9-0. Colorado Mesa has won 14 straight against the Eagles.

HISTORY WITH REGIS: Colorado Mesa dropped its only matchup with Regis last year 76-71 in Brownson Arena. Even with the loss, the Mavericks have won six of the past eight meetings with the Rangers.
