Moshe Perez was able to cross it across the box to find Elkind who was able to put it past the Newman goalie.

The Mavericks were on the offensive all game, out shooting NU 18-9 and 11-2 in shots on goal. Perez led the game with five total shots taken, two of which were on goal.

Briley Guarneri served in goal for the Mavericks, finishing the game with 2 saves on the day. This was also Guarneri's second win of the season and his second shutout in as many games. Chase Bowman was in net for NU, and he finished with 10 saves but received the loss.

It was a physical matchup throughout between the two teams. Thirty-five total fouls were called and five yellow cards were handed out. Perez and Andres Delgadillo received the cards for the Mavericks.

With the victory, CMU moves to 2-0 on the season and will look to extend their win streak next weekend. They will play St. Edwards University Friday night at 7 p.m. and will follow it up on Sunday against St. Mary's University at 12 p.m.
