PUEBLO, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa University men's and women's tennis teams each posted wins at CSU-Pueblo Friday (April 7).
The women earned the 9-0 sweep of the Thunderwolves.
Kristen Kirby needed three sets to defeat Nia Matthews, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
Emily Beckley also needed three sets to win at No. 2. She defeated Acacia Dettman 6-7 (2), 6-3, 10-3.
Kristen Kirby won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3.
Taylor Hershey and
Nicole Kitsuse won at No. 4 and No. 5 by identical 6-2, 6-2 scores.
Georgia Hansen picked up the last singles win for CMU at No. 6 6-3, 6-3.
The men defeated CSU-Pueblo 7-2.
The Mavericks won all three doubles.
Cody Freischlag defeated James Ryan 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 1.
Nicholas Farmen won 6-4, 6-4 over Rafael Abreu at No. 3.
Lucas Martin and
Oliver Lindqvist won at No. 4 (6-3, 6-1) and No. 5 (6-1, 7-5) for CMU.
Colorado Mesa will play at MSU Denver Saturday (April 8).
