DENVER – MSU Denver defeated the Colorado Mesa University men's and women's tennis teams to win the RMAC Tournament Sunday (April 23).
The CMU men fell 5-4 and the women lost 5-3.
In the men's match, the Roadrunners won at No. 1 doubles, but the Mavericks rallied for wins at No. 2 and 3.
MSUD earned wins at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles, but
Lucas Martin won 6-2, 7-6 (3) at No. 4, and
Oliver Lindqvist won at No. 5 (3-6, 7-5, 6-3) to set-up a decisive match at No. 6 singles.
Calum Hayes defeated
Alain De La Bastide 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 to give the Roadrunners the win.
The women opened with a pair of doubles wins. Katie and
Kristen Kirby won at No. 1 (8-6), and
Nicole Kitsuse and
Georgia Hansen won 9-7 at No. 3.
Kristen Kirby won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1, but the Roadrunners won at No. 2, 3, 5 and 6 singles for the win.
The men finish the season 12-12 and the women finished 11-12.
