DENVER – The Colorado Mesa University men's and women's tennis teams each advanced to the championship of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament with wins in the semifinals Saturday (April 22).
The women defeated Colorado Christian 5-1 in the semifinals.
The Mavericks won all three doubles matches.
Katie and Kristin Kirby won 8-1 at No. 1.
Emily Beckley and
Taylor Hershey won 8-3 at No. 2, and
Nicole Kitsuse and
Georgia Hansen won 8-1 at No. 3.
Katie Kirby fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3, and
Taylor Hershey wom 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4.
Emily Beckley, who earned the Summit Award with a 4.0 GPA in management, defeated Jennifer Perkins 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 to clinch the match.
The men advanced with a 5-0 win over CSU-Pueblo.
Cody Freischlag and
Nicholas Farmen won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, and
Oliver Lindqvist and
William Agritelley won 9-8 at No. 2.
Lucas Martin and
Alain De La Bastide competed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 3.
Nicholas Farmen won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3, and
Alain De La Bastide clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Colorado Mesa will face MSU Denver for the men's and women's RMAC Championship Sunday (April 22).
