Steve Brandenburg scored four goals and
Reece Callies assisted on three others to lead Colorado Mesa to a 25-8 win over CSU-Pueblo on Sunday afternoon in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's lacrosse matchup.
CSU-Pueblo scored the first two goals of the game before Colorado Mesa would go on a four-goal terror to close out the first period of play.
The Mavericks outscored the ThunderWolves 7-3 in the second period of play and took an 11-5 lead into the halftime break.
Colorado Mesa stepped their defense up in the second half and limited CSU-Pueblo to just three second-half goals.
Brady George led the unit with four ground balls and a caused turnover.
Brandenburg scored three of his four goals in the second half. His first goal of the game came man-up with 4:40 to play in the first half. The four goals give him 39 on the season which leads the RMAC.
Callies scored his 18
th goal of the season in the first period then assisted on three other goals to give him 10 on the season.
Nolan Marshall led the Mavericks with five groundball pickups and was 9-for-13 on his faceoff attempts. He also scored his second goal of the season in the fourth period of play.
Remi Reeves earned the win in net after playing the first three periods of play. He made 11 saves and allowed just seven goals.
Colorado Mesa concludes the road schedule with a single-game at Westminster next Saturday in Salt Lake City.
