AZUSA, CALIF. – Azusa Pacific defeated both the men's and women's tennis teams from Colorado Mesa University Monday (March 20).
The men lost 7-2 and the women fell 8-1.
In the men's match, the Mavericks earned one point in doubles when
Lucas Martin and
Alain De La Bastide defeated Marnix Pluim and Roberto Luconi 8-5 at No. 3.
Alain De La Bastide also picked up the lone win in singles at No. 6 defeating Cameron Backman 0-6, 7-5, 10-4.
CMU had two players fall in three sets in singles.
Lucas Martin lost 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 4, and
Oliver Lindqvist fell 6-3, 2-6, 10-7 at No. 5.
Katie Kirby earned the one win for the women defeating Valeriia Kashina 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 at No. 3.
Katie and her sister Kristen dropped just their fifth match at No. 1 doubles falling to Natalie Johnson and Lisa Schneider 8-3.
Colorado Mesa will play at Point Loma Tuesday (March 21).
