Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Colorado Mesa defense came up big in a 13-9 win over No. 20 Rollins College on Thursday evening at Barker Family Stadium in a huge NCAA South Region matchup.
The Mavericks caused 10 turnovers to the Tars four. The defensive duo of
Ryder Clark and
Brady George each forced two turnovers.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Remi Reeves came up with quite possibly the best win of his young career. Reeves made nine saves, scooped up three groundballs and caused a turnover while facing 36 total shots.
Colorado Mesa's
Calen Ketcham finished the game with a hat trick scoring two first half goals and then added the clincher with just 19 seconds left in the match.
RMAC Offensive Player of the Week
Steve Brandenburg also finished with a hat trick. All three of Brandenburg's goals came in the second half of action.
Austin Cromwell came up big for Colorado Mesa on face-offs. After the Mavericks failed to gain possession on their first four face-off opportunities in stepped Cromwell. The junior finished the match 12-for-21 with five groundball pickups and gave the Mavericks valuable possession time.
Tar Greg Taicher paced Rollins with three goals, two assists, and five groundball pickups.
Colorado Mesa improves to 7-1 on the season while Rollins falls to 4-4 on the year.
The Mavericks will head over to Lakeland for a bout with Florida Southern on Sunday at 10am in another crucial NCAA South Region matchup.
