GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa earned the final day sweep at the Maverick Duals at Elliott Tennis Center on Saturday (Oct. 7) evening. The Mavericks defeated RMAC foe CSU-Pueblo in the morning before taking down NCAA Division III member Colorado College.
Colorado Mesa took two of the three doubles matches for the 2-1 lead heading into singles. Will Agritelley and
Oliver Lindqvist earned the 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles and
Max Lindqvist and Nick Farmen picked up the 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Max Lindqvist put the Mavericks up 3-1 after a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win at No. 1 singles over Thomas Pudney of CSU-Pueblo.
The ThunderWolves ended up with wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles.
Oliver Lindqvist picked up a three-set win at No. 4 singles while
Lucas Martin earned the clinch at No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 straight set win over David Mould.
In the nightcap, Colorado Mesa won eight of the nine matches on the evening in an 8-1 win over CC.
The Mavericks swept the three doubles matches with a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles, an 8-3 win at No. 2 and an 8-4 win at No. 3.
Lucas Martin won a three-setter at No. 4 singles. Martin dropped the first set 6-4 but battled back to win the second set 6-2 and a 10-6 win in the third set tiebreak.
Mitchell Steadman earned the 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6.
This concludes the fall portion of the schedule. The Mavericks will be back in February for the spring season.
