Softball Earns South Central Tournament Bid

Colorado Mesa qualified for the NCAA Tournament as the No. 5 seed in the Southcentral Region. They will play No. 4 Texas A&M-Commerce in the first round of the double-elimination tournament on Thursday May 5 (See bracket on page 2).

Tournament Location
The South Central 1 Regional Tournament will be played at Schaeffer Park in Canyon, Texas.

Tickets
Tickets will go on sale starting Tuesday May 3. There will be three sessions throughout the weekend, with a ticket needing to be purchased for each session. There are no all-session passes available. It is $3 for general admission students and $8 for general admission adults. Reserved seats can be purchased for $10.

Last Time
The last time CMU earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament was in 2012. They entered the tournament as the No. 7 seed, but fell to Augustana 4-2 and then Colorado Christian 5-2. CMU has earned eight regional bids in Div. II history (2012, 2010, 2009, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1998, 1997). Their overall record in the tournament is 10-16. In 2000, the Mavericks advanced to the College World Series

Batting Average
Colorado Mesa ranks third in the nation and first in the RMAC with a .363 batting average. Kovac is second in the RMAC with a batting average of .464.

Long Ball
CMU ranks fourth in the nation and leads the conference in slugging percentage at .578. Mesa ranks seventh nationally and first in the RMAC in home runs per game with 1.18. 

Scoring
Colorado Mesa ranks third in the nation and is leading the RMAC in scoring by averaging 7.71 runs per game. They are 33-0 when they score six or more runs this season.

On the Road
CMU has a better record on the road this season (18-1), compared to 18-5 at home.
