SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team defeated Western New Mexico University 5-4 on Friday April 8.
The Mavericks started with winning two of three doubles matches.
Frederikke Karst and
Emily Dodson won 9-8 (1) at No. 1 while
Katie Kirby and
Michelle Phillips got an 8-6 victory at No. 2.
The matches remained tight at singles.
Frederikke Karst defeated Ashley Newell 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 singles and
Taylor Hershey won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
Emily Dodson's match went to three sets at No. 2. She won 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to clinch for the Mavericks.
Colorado Mesa will play at home this weekend (April 15-16) against Metro State and CSU-Pueblo.
