Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Colorado Mesa men's lacrosse team picked up a big 10-9 victory Friday (Apr. 29) against Lindenwood in a non-conference match at Rockhurst University.
 
CMU started off the first half strong scoring the first three goals of the quarter. But, Lindenwood would answer back going on a three goal run in the second quarter of play.
 
The Mavericks held the Lions off to secure a 7-4 lead at the half.
 
Colorado Mesa would score the lone goal of the third quarter.
 
Lindenwood would answer in the fourth, out scoring Colorado Mesa 5-1 and scoring the last goal in the fourth, however, Colorado Mesa held on for the win.
 
Shots favored the Lions as they outshot the Mavs 45-40 with 24 of Lindenwood's shots on net compared to Colorado Mesa's 18.
 
Ground balls favored the Lions as they out scooped the Mavs 29-18.
 
CMU struggled in face-offs winning only 5-of-22.
 
Reece Callies led the Mavs in points with a five point game.
 
Steve Brandenburg led Colorado Mesa in goals scoring four.
 
Zach Weaver was between the pipes for the Mavericks making 15 saves and allowing nine goals.
 
Colorado Mesa (10-4, 6-1) takes on Rockhurst Saturday (Apr. 30). The Mavericks must defeat the Hawks by five goals to earn the right to host the RMAC Tournament next Friday and Saturday. They will win a share of the RMAC title with a win.
