Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa men's lacrosse picked up a 17-6 victory Friday (April 22) against CSU-Pueblo in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup.
CSUP started off the first period strong scoring two goals unanswered goals within the first three minutes of the match.
Colorado Mesa answered with eight straight goals between the first and second to end the half with an 8-2 lead.
The ThunderWolves would stop the run scoring first in the third but the Mavs continued their momentum and outscored the ThunderWolves 9-4 in the second half to earn the win.
Shots favored the Mavericks as they outshot the CSU-Pueblo 58-23.
The Mavericks had 32 shots on goal compared to the ThunderWolves 16.
Ground balls favored CMU as they out scooped CSUP 26-15.
Face offs favored Colorado Mesa as the won 17-of-25.
Extra-man aided in the win scoring on two of their four attempts.
Man-down was strong for CMU killing off four of six CSU-Pueblo man-up attempts.
The Mavs had 11 different goal scorers on the night.
Calen Ketcham led Colorado Mesa with five goals.
Zach Weaver started for the Mavericks making ten saves and allowing six goals while picking up eighth win of the season.
