GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team handed Metro State University of Denver a 6-2 loss Friday April 15.
 
The Mavericks started off strong by sweeping the doubles matches.
 
The No. 1 team of Spencer Weinberg and Andres Garcia-Rojas won the first match 8-6. Cody Freischlag and Trevor Brown, at No. 2, and Max Lindqvist and Lucas Martin, at No. 3, both won with identical scores of 9-7 to complete the sweep.
 
The Roadrunners then came back and won the first singles match.
 
It went to three sets in the next two matches. Spencer Weinberg defeated Joey Tscherne 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 at No. 1 and Cody Freischlag posted a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 3.
 
Max Lindqvist beat Calum Hayes 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5.
 
Colorado Mesa closes out their regular season at home against CSU-Pueblo April 16.
