DALLAS, Texas - The Colorado Mesa University tennis team defeated Newman University 5-4 on Tuesday (March 14).

CMU started off by winning two of the doubles matches.

Spencer Weinberg and Andres Garcia-Rojas won 8-6 at No. 1 while Cody Freischlag and Trevor Brown got the 8-1 won at No. 2.

At singles, Cody Freischlag defeated Alejandro Gonzalez 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3, but No. 2, 4 and 5 singles would all suffer losses.

It was a must win situation for Spencer Weinberg and Trevor Brown.

Spencer Weinberg came out victorious against Eduardo Santos, the No. 1 ranked player in the ITA South Central Region, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.

The match came down to the No. 6 singles. Trevor Brown clinched the win for the Mavericks 6-2, 7-5 against Jose Enrique Coiras.

Colorado Mesa (10-7) travels Cameron Univeristy tomorrow (March 16).
