Mavericks Down Chadron State

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Head coach Taylor Wagner got his 100th win with the Mavericks when the Colorado Mesa women's basketball team defeated Chadron State 73-62.

Sydney Small scored a game-high 16 points while going 6-for-6 from the free throw line while Erika Musante added seven rebounds and two blocks.

Bryanna Adams scored all 14 of her points in the first half, shooting 4-for-7 from the field and 4-for-5 from the three-point line. She was held scoreless in the second half and fouled out in the fourth quarter.

CMU held Chadron State to just 13 points in the first quarter before allowing them to score 21 points in the second quarter.

The Mavs were hot from behind the arc in the first half. They shot 10-for-17 (58.8 percent) while only allowing the Eagles to make four threes.

At half CMU led 43-34 on 46.7 (14-for-30) percent shooting while holding Chadron State to 34.6 (9-for-26) percent.

In the second half CMU led by as many as 20 and only allowed Chadron State to score 14 points in the third and fourth quarters.

The difference in bench scoring was huge. CMU's bench outscored Chadron State's bench 34-10.

Allegria Chisom led the Thunderbirds with 13 points.

The Mavericks are back in action tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. when they take on Regis.
