Complete Results in PDFGRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – Sam Bryant's assault on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships continued on Thursday night (Feb. 11).
Bryant earned his second individual RMAC title in dominating fashion by winning the 400 individual medley. The time set new, school, pool and RMAC records by more than three seconds. The time was only a half second off a NCAA A qualifying time.
Eryn Leonard led the women's team with a runner-up finish in the 100 fly and broke her own school record with a time of 55.70.
Leonard was a member of the 400 medley relay team that led for most of the race until they were untouched by California Baptist. Mary Saiz, Miranda Reetz, Eryn Leonard and Marissa Bradley broke the previous school record by nearly four seconds with a time of 3:47.60.
Mary Saiz and Marissa Bradley finished third (1:52.27) and 12
th (1:56.70) in the 200 free.
The men's 100 fly was a high-scoring event for the Mavericks with four swimmers in the top-seven. Sky Hirsch finished second in a school-record time of 48.41.
Justin Hastings placed third (48.70), Morgan Bean was sixth (49.44) and Chris Radomski was seventh (49.47).
Josh Bedford placed second in the men's 200 free (1:41.09). Kyle Johnston was fifth (1:41.45), Garrett Koehler sixth (1:41.91) and Jason Hicks was 12
th (1:43.01).
The Mavericks collected two medals on the men's one-meter board. Sage D'Ambrosia finished second (455.85) and Ryan Popp was third (436.80).
Miranda Reetz was the top Mesa swimmer in the women's 400 individual medley placing sixth (4:35.21). Sami Lenzmeier was 11
th (4:37.25), Abi Young 13
th (4:40.02) and Danielle Fournier 14
th (4:40.35).
Maverick placers in the men's 400 individual medley included Ryan Gifford fifth (4:01.27), Ethan McNally seventh (4:04.57), Dan Lawley 11
th (4:08.46) and Pete Byers 15
th (4:11.72).
Katelin Staab finished sixth in the 100 fly (58.41).
The men's (1:25.32) and women's (1:39.54) 200 free relays both placed fourth.
Both the men (428) and women (305.5) are third in the team standings.
The RMAC Swimming and Diving Championships continue through Saturday (Feb. 13).
