RMAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Colorado Mesa placed third as a team at the RMAC Championships two weeks ago at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The Mavericks came away with a pair of champions in Jonathon Stelling at 125 pounds and Drew Schumann at 149 pounds. Stelling defeated Ronny Wardleigh of Western State to secure the title at 125 pounds while Schumann defeated top seeded and No. 2 ranked Terrance McKinney of Chadron State for the title.

ROAD TRIPS
The Mavericks have been road warriors of sorts this season with only four home dates of competition. They just returned from their longest stretch when they went to Colorado Springs for the RMAC Championships followed by a trip to California for duals with Cal Baptist and San Francisco State. The Mavericks fell to seventh ranked Cal Baptist 19-15 before defeating San Francisco State 23-14.

BATTLE IN BROWNSON
Thursday's dual will be the second annual Battle in Brownson with the Mavericks hosting nationally ranked CSU-Pueblo at 7pm. Last year, the Mavericks defeated rival Western State on an overtime takedown by Jordan Passehl in the final bout of the evening at 285 pounds in front of nearly 2,000 people. This year the first 500 fans through the door will receive a Battle in Brownson Blackout shirt.

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS
CSU-Pueblo comes into the dual nationally ranked with three wrestlers ranked in the top two at their respective weight classes in the region. Heavyweight Jacob Mitchell was the 2014 NCAA runner-up and the 2016 RMAC runner-up while both 157 pounder JaCobi Jones and 174 pounder Terrance Williams are each ranked in the top eight of the country. Chadron State comes in with a young lineup that features a pair of ranked wrestlers in 133 pounder Taylor Summers and 149 pounder Terrance McKinney.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Mavericks will have a week off of competition before the NCAA Super Region 4 Championships in Gunnison at the end of the month. The top four finishers from the SUper Region will advance to the NCAA National Championships in Sioux Falls, S.D. Currently, eight Mavericks are ranked in the top four of their respective weight classes, headlined by number one Drew Schumann at 149 pounds.
