LAST WEEKEND
Colorado Mesa swept the split week defeating Western State Colorado 3-1 on Tuesday before sweeping Westminster 3-0 on Friday. Mackenzie Edwards and
Gabriela Dias each had 18 kills in the win over the Mountaineers.
In the win over Westminster,
Hattie Gianinetti hit a team season-high of .688 with 12 kills on 16 attempts.
Katie Scherr and
Alyssa Chutka each finished with double-digit kills.
UPCOMING MATCHES
The Mavericks face nationally ranked No. 19 MSU Denver on Friday in a matchup of two RMAC heavyweights. The last time the two teams faced off, Colorado Mesa defeated the Roadrunners in the RMAC Tournament semifinals 3-1 in Golden. CMU will also play host to UCCS on Saturday. The Mountain Lions enter the contest in a fourth place tie in the standings.
REGIONAL RANKINGS
The first official  NCAA regional rankings were released this week. The top eight teams in the final rankings will advance to the NCAA Tournament. Colorado Mesa checked in at No. 4 in the rankings. Angelo State was No. 1 followed by MSU Denver and Tarleton State.
RMAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore libero
Taylor Woods was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week after her play against Western State and Westminster. Woods averaged 6.29 digs per set in the two matches and recorded a season-high 27 digs in the four-set win over Western State.
RANKED OPPONENTS
Colorado Mesa is 1-2 this season against AVCA nationally ranked opponents. The dropped the first two matches of the season to ranked opponents before defeating Colorado Mines on Oct. 15.
BLOCKING
The Mavericks are 7-0 when they have more blocks then their opponents this season. Junior
Hattie Gianinetti leads the team with 44 blocks this season and acheived a season-high eight blocks in the win over Lubbock Christian.
NATIONAL POLL
Colorado Mesa is on the cusp of re-entering the AVCA National Rankings sitting just on the outside of the others receiving votes. MSU Denver checks in at No. 19 this week with Colorado Mines holding at No. 22.
