Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to the Fort Lewis Skyhawks on Friday afternoon in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match.
The Mavericks took the lead in the match on
Ashley Wallace's second goal of the season in the 54
th minute. Wallace took a rebound off a
Jessie Parra shot that glanced off the post and shot from 15 yards out.
The SKyhawks evened the match just under four minutes later on a shot from 28 yards out.
The match was tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation and so the two teams headed to overtime.
At the 95:42 mark of the match, the Mavericks were whistled for a controversial foul that occurred in the box, giving Fort Lewis a penalty kick. Alicia Sanchez converted, giving the Skyhawks the 2-1 win.
Wallace led the Mavericks with three shots.
Colorado Mesa didn't attempt a corner kick in the match but took more shots than Fort Lewis.
The Mavericks will head to Alamosa for a match with the Adams State Grizzlies on Sunday.
