PUEBLO, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis opened the season with a narrow 5-4 loss to Texas-Permian Basin Friday (Sept. 11) in Pueblo, Colo. CMU followed up with a 6-3 loss to Neb.-Kearney.
UTPB swept the three doubles matches.
CMU won four of the six singles matches but couldn't win a decisive fifth.
Frederikke Karst earned her first career win at CMU defeating Lisa Roslanova 6-3, 7-5.
CMU also got a win at No. 2 singles from
Katie Kirby who defeated Maria Orona 6-2, 6-5 (5), 10-6.
Emily Beckly and
Taylor Hershey each earned their first career wins at No. 5 and 6 respectively.
Frederikke Karst and
Emily Dodson collected the first win for CMU against UNK with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Emily Beckley defeated Yuxiu Sun 7-5, 7-5 at No. 4 singles, and
Amy Beeston defeated Jadyn Trimble 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
CMU will participate in a singles and doubles tournament at MSU Denver Sept. 18-19. Â
