GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University Director of Athletics
Tom Spicer announced on August 18 that Brian Beeman has been hired as the Associate Head Coach for Track and Field.
He will be responsible for coaching the horizontal and vertical jumps as well as the multi-event athletes. In addition to his coaching duties, Beeman will be responsible for managing CMU's home meets and fund raising.

Matt Canterbury. "He brings an incredible amount of competitive and coaching experience to our program. Brian will help us continue to grow and establish our own tradition of success."
Beeman comes to Colorado Mesa University after spending the previous eight years at California State University Chico as both a student-athlete and an assistant coach. During his five year coaching career at Chico, Beeman coached three national champions, 13 All-Americans, six conference champions and 29 all-conference student-athletes. The Wildcats combined for 13 California Collegiate Athletic Association titles in men's and women's track and field.
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to coach at CMU," said Brian Beeman. "The support from administration and the department makes it feel they want this program to excel. Being able to work with Matt and the rest of the coaching staff, I believe that we can mold this young program into a very competitive team in the RMAC and the nation. I am excited to join the CMU athletic department and help take this track and field team to the next level."
Beeman was a nationally ranked decathlete at Chico and was a two-time all-conference selection in the decathlon. He earned his bachelors degree in kinesiology and a masters degree in kinesiology: sport and exercise psychology from Chico.
