PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team responded from a 5-2 upset to MSU Denver in the semifinals with a 5-4 win over CSU-Pueblo to finish third at the RMAC Tournament.
Blake Demond and
Duncan Alger defeated Sam Stember and Ludvig Henrikson at No. 3 doubles 8-3, but Metro won at No. 1 and 2 doubles to lead 2-1.
Demond would also earn a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
The Roadrunners earned the match win with victories at No. 2, 4 and 5 singles.
Mesa opened the match with Pueblo with wins at No.1 and 2 doubles.
Jordan Lyden and
Spencer Weinberg won 8-2 at No. 1, and
Andres Garcia-Rojas and
Cody Freischlag won a tight match 9-8 (7-3) at No. 2.
Jordan Lyden needed three sets (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) to defeat Trung Le at No. 1 singles, and
Andres Garcia-Rojas won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3.
CSUP tied the match at 4-4 with singles wins at No. 2, 4 and 6.
Duncan Alger gave Mesa the win with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5.
CMU improves to 18-7 overall on the year.Â
