The two teams traded goals before Regis rattled off four straight goals to lead 6-2.
CMU battled back scoring three of the next four goals to cut the RU lead to 7-5.
Regis countered with four of the next six goals to lead 10-6 at halftime.
Mesa started the second by scoring three of the next four goals to trail by two, 11-9.
Regis closed the game by scoring 10 of the final 12 goals.
The Rangers finished with a heavy 37-21 edge in shots, including 20-9 in the first half.
Regis controlled play off the draw finishing with a 22-12 edge.
Jillian Pfeiffer made 13 saves and allowed 15 goals in the loss for CMU.
Kady Herzog made two saves and allowed six goals in relief duty.
Colorado Mesa (2-3, 0-1) will face CSU-Pueblo Sunday (March 15).Â
