Box Score 4 TUCSON, Ariz. – The Colorado Mesa University softball team won three of six games at the NFCA Div. II Leadoff.
The Mavericks opened with a 6-2 win over No. 4 Southeastern Oklahoma. The Mavericks would collect all six runs in the third inning.
Madelyn Schulz leadoff the inning with a double and then scored on a double by
Megan Brown.
Nicole Robinson singled and Brown would score on a wild pitch.
Makayla Kovac hit her first homerun of the year to score the team's third and fourth runs.
Sarah Phillis singled, stole second and then scored on a double by
Tabor Woosley. Woosley would score the final run of the inning on a Double by
Zoe Pakes.
Colorado Mesa followed up with a 6-5 win over RMAC foe Fort Lewis in a five inning game that was shortened due to darkness. The Mavs scored two runs in the opening inning despite not collecting a hit but capitalizing on two Sjyhawk errors. The Mavs collected two more runs in both the second and third innings on six hits.
CMU dropped a pair of games to Texas Women's 10-1 and West Texas 8-0.
The Mavericks rebounded with their second win over Southeast Oklahoma 12-4.
Kelsey Laughlin led the Mavericks hitting 3-3 with three RBI's and three runs scored. Eight players recorded a hit and three players had multiple hits.
Colorado Mesa closed the weekend with 12-2 loss to Missouri-St. Louis.
CMU (3-3) will play six games at the West Texas Tournament Feb. 13-15.Â
