BATTLE IN BROWNSON
13th ranked Colorado Mesa will take on 5th ranked Western State Colorado in the first annual 'Battle in Brownson". A door prize will be given away to one lucky fan for a trip to the NCAA Super Region 4 Wrestling Regional in Pueblo, Colo. The dual could decide the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champion as both squads enter the night undefeated in RMAC duals.

COFFEE vs. TOFFEE
CMU President Tim Foster has challenged Western State Colorado University President Greg Salsbury as part of Thursday's "Battle in Brownson" when the Maverick grapplers take on the Mountaineers. President Salsbury will send President Foster two pounds of Camp 4 Coffee from Crested Butte if the Mountaineers fall to the Mavericks. In the unlikely event that the Mavericks don't prevail, Foster will send Salsbury two pounds of the world famous Enstrom Almond Toffee.

RANKINGS
Colorado Mesa enters the dual ranked No. 13 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association while Western State Colorado comes in at No. 5 after falling just once this season (L - Air Force). The Mavericks have two wrestlers ranked in the top eight at their respective weights in James Martinez (No. 3 at 157 pounds) and Jordan Passehl (No. 8 at 285 pounds.) The Mountaineers bring in three ranked wrestlers in No. 2 Elliott Copeland at 174 pounds, No. 5 Kyle Piatt at 184 pounds, and No. 6 Sam Mangum at 197 pounds.

REST
Both Drew Schumann and Randy Boerner received plenty of rest during the Mavericks last road swing against CSU-Pueblo and Adams State. Schumann and Boerner both were among the team leaders in matches this season with 31 and 35 respectively.

FAMILY AFFAIR
Colorado Mesa head coach Chuck Pipher will be coaching against his son, former Western State All-American Charlie Pipher on Thursday night. Charlie is an assistant for the Mountaineers.

RIFLEMAN
Rifle, Colo. native James Martinez is gunning for his second straight regional championship and his third straight All-American nod this season. Martinez is 29-2 this season and is currently ranked No. 3 by the NWCA. Earlier this season, he eclipsed the 100-win plateau for the first time in NCAA program history.

JO-PO
Senior Jordan Passehl has been solid this season at 285 pounds. The NWCA awarded Passehl this week with ranking him No. 8 at his weight. He is 23-8 this season and is poised to receive a top four seed at the regional tournament later this month.
