Box Score 2 CANYON, Texas – Colorado Mesa split on day one of the Lady Buff Softball Tournament Friday (Feb. 13).
Colorado Mesa defeated Tarleton State 13-6 and fell 9-5 to Cameron.
Brooke Hodgson led the Mavericks with her bat and her arm in the Tarleton win. She earned the complete game win giving up six runs on nine hits with four strikeouts. She hit 4-for-5 with two RBI's and one run scored.
The Mavericks broke the game open with eight runs on six hits in the fifth inning. CMU followed up with three runs on four hits in the sixth.
The Mavericks scored 13 runs on 17 hits in the contest.
Cameron out-hit Mesa 12-9 for the 9-5 win.
The Mavericks struck first with two runs in the top of the first before the Aggies hung five in the fourth.
Cameron added two more in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Nicole Robinson led CMU with three hits, and
Brooke Hodgson and
Kelsey Laughlin each had two.
Colorado Mesa (4-4) will continue play through Sunday at the West Texas Tournament.Â
