Amanda Wenzel scored the tying goal in the 57th minute on a through ball from
Sarah Pope. On Sunday, the Mavericks fell to MSU Denver 3-2 after taking a 2-1 lead just before halftime.
Ashley Wallace and
Lauryn Lee scored the two goals in the match.
WEEKEND'S OPPONENTSThe Mavericks have had success recently against both UCCS and Western State Colorado. They own a 5-2-1 record all-time against the Mountain Lions and are 4-1-1 in Colorado Springs. Against the Mountaineers, Colorado Mesa is 2-1-2 in their brief history and is 1-0-1 on the road in Gunnison.
MORE SCORINGThe 2014 women's soccer team only netted five goals in 18 matches last season. The 2015 team has already eclipsed that number in just 11 matches, scoring six. The Mavericks scored two goals in Sunday's match with MSU Denver to top that mark.Â
QUICK GOALSLauryn Lee and
Ashley Wallace scored the two goals in the Mavericks 3-2 loss to MSU Denver on Sunday. The two goals came just 35 seconds of game clock apart from one and other. They are the quickest two goals on record in program history that dates back to 1996.Â
POPE MOVES UPÂ Senior
Sarah Pope moved up into a tie for seventh place on the all-time assist list after assisting on a goal over the weekend. Pope currently sits in a tie with career points leader Tiffany Thompson who played for the Mavericks in 1997-98 and scored 83 points.Â
TAKING SHOTSColorado Mesa is 1-2-2 when outshooting opponents in 2015.
Sarah Pope leads the Mavericks in shots with 26 but has yet to tickle the twine.
COACHING STAFFThe Mavericks coaching staff remains the same as last season with head coach
Jason Clare entering his second season at the helm and third season in the program.Â

Kortney Rhoades enters her second year in the program as well.
RMAC PRESEASON POLLThe Mavericks were picked ninth in the preseason coaches poll after finishing in tenth place last season. Colorado Mesa was picked ahead of Adams State, Colorado Christian and RMAC newcomer Westminster. The top six teams qualify for the RMAC Tournament in November.
VIDEO STREAMINGColorado Mesa and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference have teamed up with Stretch Internet to provide video streaming for all home games this season. Video streaming will also be free this season. Find the link at CMUmavericks.com.
