Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's soccer team took a 2-1 lead over the visiting MSU Denver Roadrunners heading into halftime but surrendered two second half goals in a 3-2 loss on Sunday afternoon at Walker Field.
The Roadrunners took an early lead in the match when they scored the opening goal in the 16
th minute of the match.
Colorado Mesa responded with a pair of goals that came 35 seconds apart from one and other.
Defender
Lauryn Lee scored her first goal of the season at the 30:57 mark of the match. Lee took a pass off a corner from
Amanda Wenzel and scored on the right side of the goal to knot the match at 1-1.
At the 31:32 mark of the match,
Ashley Wallace gave the Mavericks the lead with her team-leading third goal of the season. Her goal came just outside of the goalie box and found its way on the right side of the net, top shelf.
The Roadrunners came out of the halftime break and netted a pair of goals and Colorado Mesa could not find an answer.
The match on Sunday ended a stretch where the Mavericks played five matches in a nine day span.
Colorado Mesa will be back on the road next weekend with matches at UCCS and at Western State Colorado.
