GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 20 Mavericks used two pins, a disqualification, and a forfeit to seal a 24-19 win over No. 15 Cal Baptist in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference wrestling dual on Friday evening in Brownson Arena.
After dropping the first two matches of the evening and trailing 7-0, Senior
Jordan Passehl stepped on the mat at 285 pounds and delivered the win the Mavericks needed. Passehl pinned Lancer David Dill at the 2:35 mark of the first period to cut the Lancer lead to 7-6.
Colby Christensen followed Passehl's win with one of his own at 125 pounds. Trailing 4-2 entering the third period, Christensen turned Lancer Christian Betancourt to his back with under 30 seconds to go to give him a 5-4 lead. He picked up a riding time point to seal the decision and gave the Mavericks a lead they would never relinquish.

Daniel Salazar picked up a disqualification victory at 141 pounds after his opponent picked up five stalling penalties in the match with the final one coming in the second period.
Drew Schumann picked up a forfeit win at 149 pounds and
James Martinez picked up his 99
th win of his career with a 6-0 decision at 157 pounds.
A select group of Mavericks will head to Orem, Utah for the Utah Valley Open tomorrow.
Colorado Mesa's next dual will be on the road next Thursday in Chadron, Neb.
