Wrestlers Pin Down 11th Win in a Row

PUEBLO, Colo. – No. 19 Colorado Mesa dropped two of the first three bouts but rebounded by winning the final seven bouts of the night in a 34-9 win over the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference wrestling dual in Massari Arena.

The dual began at 165 pounds and Maverick Jesie Hoffschneider picked up an 11-1 major decision over Phil Young. Hoffschneider picked up a pair of takedowns and picked up a pair of near falls in the victory.

The ThunderWolves earned a pair of wins at 174 and 184 pounds to give CSU-Pueblo a 9-4 advantage in the match. The 184 pound bout would be the last CSU-Pueblo would win on the night.

In the heavyweight bout, Jordan Passehl scored a last second takedown on Niko Bogojevic to earn a 3-1 decision. The win gave the Mavericks a 12-9 advantage at the midway point of the dual.

After a decision by Colby Christensen at 125 pounds, Jonathon Stelling won by major decision, Daniel Salazar picked up a pin and Nick Swanson won by technical fall to stretch the Maverick lead to 30-9.
