Women's Soccer to take on CSU-Pueblo and Regis

WEEKEND RECAP
Colorado Mesa opened the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference portion of the schedule with a tie against Colorado Christian on Friday and then a loss to MSU Denver on Sunday.

In the tie to Colorado Christian, CMU only allowed three shots by the Cougars while taking 12 of their own. They also didnt allow CCU to attempt a corner kick.

In the match against MSU Denver, Sarah Schnetzler made five saves and Kendra Penchoff took five shots in the 2-0 loss.

HISTORY WITH CSU-PUEBLO
The Mavericks are 17-11-5 all-time against the ThunderWolves but are just 6-9-2 all-time in Pueblo. Last season, CMU picked up a 2-0 win over the Pack in there only meeting on the year.

HISTORY WITH THE RANGERS
Colorado Mesa has a 10-27-2 overall all-time record against the Rangers which includes a 4-13-0 record at Walker Field. Last season, the two teams split the season series with each team winning on the opponents home field.  

THE COMPETITION
The Mavericks will look to get their first win of the season against a CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolf team that is 2-2-1 on the year and has taken on two of the top teams in the region.

On Sunday, CMU will take on Regis who is a perennially one of the top teams in the NCAA South Central Region. The Rangers checked in at #10 this week in the NSCAA South Central region rankings.

DEFENDING
The same five players have started in the defensive backfield for Colorado Mesa this year. Emma Thompson is starting her 24th straight match on defense while the Lauryn Lee and Marie Dreher are starting for their first time in their CMU career.

Sarah Schnetzler has made 55 starts in goal and has appeared in 58 total matches while Taylor Bruno made 15 starts as a freshman and 5 starts this season..

RMAC HISTORY
This summer the RMAC held their Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Colorado Springs. Three-time All-American Cheryl Bates-Olson was inducted as the first soccer player, men or women, into the RMAC Hall of Fame. Bates-Olson is tied for the school record in games played and games started. She also played in three NCAA Tournaments.

RMAC PRESEASON POLL
Colorado Mesa was picked to finish ninth in the RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll and didnt place anyone on the preseason team. Colorado Mines was picked to win the league while Metro State was second.

NEXT UP
The Mavericks will head back out on the road for a pair of matches against RMAC rival Western State on Friday. They will head East for a Sunday tilt with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
